Our Weekend Project

A couple of friends that I work with gave Matt a project to work on this weekend. They wanted cubbies built for their classrooms, since the student desks are not nearly big enough. So, Matt and I headed out to Lowes Friday night to start the project. We worked all day Saturday, cutting, nailing, sanding, and staining. Then today, we put the final coat of poly on the shelves. I was really impressed with our carpentery!!! We can now build custom cubbies, bookshelves, and maybe some other things if we have lots of extra wood to practice with!!!

Harley got a little bored with the project and went inside to hide!

It's hard to believe....

but Kale is really a SENIOR this year! It really just seems like it was just yesterday that we were watching him play little league baseball, getting all dressed up in his camo to go hunting and sitting on the lawn mower or 4 Wheeler with dad, and now he is a senior in high school! It was almost scary to see how much he looks just like my dad did at his age! I will get the scanner hooked up soon so you can see the resemblance. I know that if Dad were still here, he would be so proud of the young man that Kale has become!

I'll never forget mom sitting Kerri and I down on the screen porch to tell us that she was going to have a baby. I was in 4th grade and Kerri was in 6th when Kale was born. It has really been fun having such a HUGE age gap between us and Kale. It has been so much fun watching him grow (and picking on him along the way!) Just so you understand the age difference.....Kale was graduating from pre-k when Kerri graduated from high school. Kale was in 5th grade at Harbins, when Kerri started her first year teaching at Harbins! How crazy is that?

Little KD has grown up!!!! He would probably be SO embarassed to know that I am blogging about him! Oh well! That is what sisters are for isn't it???

Harley and Tiger

I guess when you don't have kids of your own, you treat your dogs like your kids. I know that we do. We truly have the greatest dogs!!! Harley is a 3 year old English Bulldog and Tiger is a 2 year old Olde English Bulldog. Harley is a little grouchy most of the time, but he is still great. Tiger on the other hand, is always so excited.

The mornings around our house are interesting, because neither one of the dogs want to get out of the bed. Most dogs are waking up their owners to take them out. Not our dogs, we literally have to drag them out of the bed to go outside in the mornings. There have been days where Harley will stay in bed asleep until almost noon! They really have a hard time waking up and getting going first thing. We took this picture one morning this week as we tried to get them up!

They both get obsessed with things very quickly too! Harley has gotten into chasing rocks in our back yard. We can thrown them all day long and he will run after them, but he gets overheated very quickly, so we have to limit this during the summer. Tigers latest obsession in cheese. He can hear a cheese wrapper from upstairs and will take off running to get a piece.

If you are in the market for a new dog, and don't mind him snoring so loud that it rattles your floor, drool, horrendous gas, and very loud belching......a bulldog is the dog for you!!
